Kayak Tours of Wollemi National Park


Southern Cross Kayaking operates guided tours of scenic Dunns Swamp in Wollemi National Park from the last week of September through to the end of April school holidays on weekends, and everyday throughout the school holidays during this period. This is a fantastic opportunity for visitors of Mudgee to experience the natural beauty of the area, while learning a bit about the natural and cultural history of the Cudgegong River in Wollemi National Park. From the long history of the Wiradjuri people, to the first European settlement. Learn about the famous 'lady bushranger', and discover how they built the weir that formed the waterway as it exists today.

Tours run for two hours, commencing at 9am and are suitable for anyone 12 years and over. No previous kayaking experience is necessary. Cost is $60 per person and includes kayak & paddle hire, experienced staff to provide paddling instruction, safety briefings and they'll guide you through the area providing commentary, a life vest and dry bags to keep your valuables safe - though it is advised to keep any unnecessary valuables back on dry land. Paddlers can expect to see a huge variety of birds and wildlife as they glide along the water, through picturesque woodlands and towering sandstone pagoda rock formations. This is assured to be a memorable morning out for the whole family.

Kayak & SUP Hire is also available all day during this period, so you can explore this stunning area at your own pace. You can hire a single or double kayak for 2 hours and it includes a pre-paddle safety briefing, and a map so you can explore the beautiful National Park from the safety of your stable kayak gliding through the pristine waters of the Cudgegong River.
